The Board of Directors is proud to announce the hiring of Grace Maineri, J.D. as the new Executive Director for the Dawn Center. Grace comes to us with over fifteen years experience in the field of domestic violence awareness. She has worked at The Spring in Hillsborough County and Sunrise in Pasco County and demonstrates a true passion for the cause. She is a certified Domestic Violence Core Trainer from the Florida Coalition of Domestic Violence, holds two bachelor's degrees from USF and a law degree from Barry University and is a Florida Certified Family Law Mediator. Whereas she is new to this county, she grew up in Tampa and has been a lifelong Florida resident. She lives with her husband Harry, several beautiful cats and one loving, loyal long-haired dachshund, named Chase. Grace is anxious to promote the services of the Dawn Center in the community and is available for presentations. Some of her visions for the agency include: Accommodations for pets of victims of domestic violence (this has now been accomplished with a partnering together with SafeHarbor4Pets program)! Convert screened porch into a conference room at administration office, Thrift Store (coming soon!!!) , On site school for K-8 Transitional Housing, Nursery, Men's Shelter and Elder Programs. Are you a teenager - someone between 12 and 19 years old? We need your ideas! The Ohio Domestic Violence Network really wants to hear from teens through a quick anonymous survey online. We are seeking information about how teens think about relationship abuse, what things would be helpful to them if they were/are abused, etc. This is 11 quick questions, totally anonymous. The Dawn Center has been chosen to receive a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation as part of the organization's annual $3 million national domestic violence grant program. The Dawn Center is one of 150 domestic violence organizations participating in the program. The grant will be used for shelter expenses such as utility bills, food and transportation costs.
